This Privacy Policy explains how Missing Piece Tech LLC (“KitchenSync,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares and protects information in connection with the KitchenSync web application at app.kitchensync.co, our website at kitchensync.co, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).

1. Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Account information: your name, email address, password, and optionally your company name and a profile image.
  • Your content: the recipes, ingredients, supplier details, prices, nutrition labels, label presets, notes and preferences you save in the Service.
  • Billing information: if you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment processor, Stripe, collects your payment card details and billing address. We receive your subscription status; we do not store your card details.
  • Communications: information you send us when you email us or contact support.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage and device information: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring pages, and similar log data.
  • Session recordings: we use LogRocket to record how the website and application are used, such as clicks, page navigation, and text entered into forms (password fields are excluded), so we can find and fix problems. In the application, recordings are associated with your account email address.
  • Analytics and advertising measurement: our website uses Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Google Ads tags, which use cookies and similar technologies to measure visits and the performance of our ads.

2. How we use information

  • To provide, operate and maintain the Service, including calculating nutrition and costs.
  • To create and manage your account and process subscription payments.
  • To send transactional messages, such as account confirmation, password resets and billing notices.
  • To respond to your requests and provide support.
  • To diagnose problems, secure the Service and prevent fraud or abuse.
  • To understand how the Service is used and improve it.
  • To measure the effectiveness of our marketing.
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not sell, publish or share your recipes.

3. How we share information

We share information only as described here:

  • Service providers. We use third parties that process information on our behalf to operate the Service. They currently include:
    • Supabase — database, authentication and file storage.
    • Vercel — hosting for the application.
    • Cloudflare — hosting and network delivery for the website.
    • Stripe — subscription billing and payment processing.
    • LogRocket — session recording and error diagnostics.
    • Google — website analytics, advertising measurement, and email.
These providers may use the information only to provide services to us.
  • USDA FoodData Central. When you search for ingredients, your search terms are sent to the USDA’s public API. We do not send your name, email or recipes with those searches.
  • Legal and safety. We may disclose information to comply with law, regulation, legal process or a governmental request, or to protect the rights, property or safety of KitchenSync, our users or others.
  • Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.

4. Cookies and your choices

The application uses cookies and local storage that are necessary to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. Our website also uses analytics and advertising cookies from Google, described above. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, and manage ad personalization in your Google ad settings. Blocking necessary cookies may stop the application from working.

5. Data security

We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls that limit each account to its own data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. If you ask us to delete your account, we will delete or de-identify your personal information and your content within a reasonable time, except where we must keep it to meet legal, tax or accounting obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. Copies in backups are removed as those backups expire.

7. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to opt out of certain processing such as targeted advertising, and to appeal a decision about your request. To make a request, email us at contact@kitchensync.co from the address on your account. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

8. Children’s privacy

The Service is intended for businesses and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. International users

We are based in the United States, and the Service is operated from the United States. If you use the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.
